Electronic Fuel Injection
The Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system fitted to most modern vehicles combines sophisticated computer controls with a high-pressure fuel delivery system to provide optimum power and fuel efficiency. The system is controlled by an electronic control unit (ECU).
The ECU then monitors the information from the sensors and ensures the correct amount of fuel and air is used to provide optimum fuel efficiency and performance and minimise exhaust emissions
These systems have many different engine and emission sensors all sending constant information to the ECU
Some of the signs of a EFI problem are back firing, rough idling, “running on” when the car is turned off and poor fuel economy.
While those problems could be dew by dirty fuel or a blocked injector, most of the time the fault has to be found using advanced diagnostic testers and tools
